PURPOSE OF THE MUNICIPALITY:   The City of Steeleville, Illinois, is a non-home rule municipality, incorporated and organized under the laws of the State of Illinois, with all the powers granted to it by the State pursuant to the Illinois Municipal Code, 65 ILCS 5/1-1-1 et seq.

METHOD OF REQUISTING RECORDS UNDER THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT

  1. Written requests shall be directed to Deputy City Clerk Kendi Cottom as FOIA Officer.  Written requests may be submitted in person at the Village Hall, 107 West Broadway, Steeleville, IL  62286, during the hours of 8:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, OR by U.S. Mail to the FOIA Officer, OR fax at (618) 965-9479 OR by e-mail to k.cottom@steeleville.org.
  1. All requests shall be in writing, shall include the name and mailing address of the requestor and, if the record(s) is/are to be used for a commercial purpose and indicate for what purpose they will be used. It shall be the responsibility of the requestor to provide the Village of Steeleville with a correct mailing address so as to efficiently process the requests OR if the record(s) is/are to be e-mailed, to provide the Village with a correct, legible e-mail address.  FOIA REQUEST FORM
  1. Each request shall be granted or denied after its receipt, as required by law, except that the time limit prescribed above may be extended for good cause as provided in the FOIA.  The person submitting the request shall be notified in writing of the extension, the reason(s) for the extension and the date on which the requested record(s) will be available.
  1. In accordance with 5 ILCS 140/3.5, the FOIA Officer has determined that there are no records which the Village of Steeleville shall be required to immediately disclose upon request.  However, nothing prohibits or precludes the FOIA Officer from providing records immediately upon request, if possible.
  1. Copies of records will be provided in the format specified by the requestor.  Charges for copies of records will be imposed in accordance with the following:

First fifty (50) black and white letter size and/or legal size pages will be………………………. free of charge

Pages exceeding the first fifty (50) will be provided at a cost of fifteen cents……………….    .15 per page

Fees will not be waived for the first fifty (50) colored letter size and/or legal size pages, oversized copies, plats, maps, discs, diskettes, tapes, CD’s or DVDs will be provided at the Village’s actual cost for reproducing the record.  

All required fees shall be prepaid.

FORECLOSURE NOTICES AND CONFIRMATION ORDERS:
