Band - 1907-07-04 - 01John Steele was the first settler to move into what is now Steeleville in 1807. The following year, Jacob Bowerman settled near the Steele family and was soon followed by others. By 1820, the community was large enough to support its first school. The community prospered and grew and was platted as a village in 1836. Since then, Steeleville has continued to grow and now supports a wide variety of businesses.

The Mayor, City Counsel, and City Employees work cooperatively with school administration, local organizations, and residents to help ensure a safe and welcoming atmosphere where people can live, work, and raise a family. The community has a wide range of homes, everything from starter homes to more exquisite homes to senior living duplexes.Broadway Improvements - 2004 - 28
